OUTREACH & PUBLIC RELATIONS

ACTCM has launched a broadscale publicity campaign, drawing the attention of a diverse population through press releases, feature articles, newsletters, and a publicity event. If you are interested in viewing any of our articles, press releases, or attending conservation awareness events, please visit this website on a periodic basis.

As one of the outreach efforts in the Chinese community, WWF, ACTCM, the Chinese Association of World Wildlife Conservation (CAWWC), and the World Journal organized a children's painting contest in Cupertino on May 11. Under the theme of "protecting nature, mother and I come together", more than 600 kids (aged from 4 to 18) from 20 Chinese language schools participated in the contest. Mayor of Cupertino, Mr. Richard Lowenthal, the CEO of the World Journal, Ms. Sun Jin Yi and other VIPs delivered awards to the winners. This event is a follow-up to the successful 1998 Year for the Tiger campaign in the Bay Area, which heightened the awareness of the need to conserve endangered species used in traditional Chinese medicine. The organizers hope that through such events, parents, children, Chinese language schools and the Chinese communities will all feel increased responsibility to save endangered species. To support this activity, the organizers distributed a special poster carrying conservation messages to the community.
